Stay calm, collect items, create weapons, and survive!

[wpsm_dropcap]E[/wpsm_dropcap]veryone needs a survival guide if they plan on staying alive; especially in the midst of a Zombie apocalypse.  And if you’re to survive these zombie onslaughts, you’re going to need to devise a plan.  In Last Day on Earth, we’ve come up with an easy step-by-step guide for the surviving gamer.

[wpsm_numhead num=”1″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 1 – Gather limestone and wood[/wpsm_numhead]

Stay calm.  We’re going to survive this apocalypse, but we’re going to need some supplies.  Start scavenging around your campsite.  Pick up logs and small stones on the ground.  Pay attention to your mini-map to avoid suspecting zombies.  They’re easy to fight, but we’re not entirely prepared just yet.

[wpsm_numhead num=”2″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 2 – Craft a hatchet, pickaxe, spear, then backpack[/wpsm_numhead]

Once you’ve collected the necessary resources: craft a hatchet first.  Chop down tress.  You’ll need the wood.

Whenever you gather enough resources: craft a pickaxe second.  Start picking at those rocks.

Lastly, craft the spear.  Make your way around the map collecting everything you see.  If you run out of room then craft a backpack to expand your inventory.  Use the truck to store items for the time-being.

[wpsm_numhead num=”3″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 3 – Build your shelter and craft a chest inside[/wpsm_numhead]

It looks like you’ve scoured everything. Nice work. But you’re only getting started. You’ll need to build a shelter next.  Try building the shelter in the center of the map.  This will give you the best placement for later in the game when you’ll need to make strategic defenses.

Once the shelter is up and in place, let’s make a chest inside so we can store all our items.  Always have your chest inside your shelter so other players can’t steal from you.

[wpsm_numhead num=”4″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 4 – Equip yourself with a pickaxe, hatchet, and spear then go explore[/wpsm_numhead]

Scout for the alpha base, army supply drop, or crashed plane.  Then visit the closest area near your home.  It also wouldn’t hurt to bring some water.  Water will be scarce early-on so try to conserve your water supply as best as possible.

The new areas present different enemies.  Kill the fast moving zombies and wolves.  You can simply avoid or run away from the slower zombies.

[wpsm_numhead num=”5″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 5 – Loot the chests. Avoid the slow zombies.[/wpsm_numhead]

Avoid the slow zombies to preserve your armor.  You will see other “bot” players who will attack you.  Attack back.  You’ll probably win and they have good loot.  Only focus on collecting the chests (hope for water) along with wood and limestone.  You’ll need to continue crafting items whenever we make it back to base.

[wpsm_numhead num=”6″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 6 – Return home. Make a farm and camp stove.[/wpsm_numhead]

You should have enough resources to build 2 farms. Do it and plant ALL your seeds.  Use the camp stove and wood to cook your raw meat.  Place useless items in the chest. Make more chests when needed.

Our immediate goal is to create a rain-catcher so we can have a water supply.  Save your empty bottles.  You will need them.  The only way to get water is by the water supply or drops.

[wpsm_numhead num=”7″ style=”3″ heading=”2″]Step 7 – Rinse. Cycle. Repeat.[/wpsm_numhead]

That’s pretty much the gist of Last Day on Earth.  From here on out, you’re on your own.  If you made it this far then you’ll do fine.  The game is pretty simple if you follow the basic concepts.  Also, here are some quick tips that you’ll find useful:

  • Collect lots of berries and eat them to quench your thirst or make berry stew.
  • If you die, you lose everything in your inventory. Always store items at your base.
  • Don’t waste your ammo on zombie hordes
  • Avoid slow zombies. You don’t need to kill them.
  • The army key cards are needed to access military bunkers
  • Use your energy to quick travel to plane crash or supply drops
  • Keep your empty bottles. Empty bean cans don’t matter until later in the game.
