Funimation announced Attack on Titan Season 3 with Manga Spoilers

According to the official Twitter account, Attack on Titan season 3 will air in 2018.  Get hyped!

Funimation, an American entertainment, anime, and foreign licensing company based in Flower Mound, Texas, released a 15-second teaser on YouTube for the third season.  No actual footage is shown, but rather manga/storyboard concepts.  We can see a series of illustrations including battle scenes and potential new villians.

The teaser’s last still shows three people standing in front of the ocean with the words, “Behold, the sea…” on screen — a potentially big clue for what’s coming next.

Attack on Titan season two aired earlier this year, but was reviewed with mixed criticisms.  Some saying that Attack on Titan, “is the most overhyped anime in existence.”  At the time of season 2 release, Funimation released 2 Attack on Titan recap movies, Guren no Yumiya and Jiyuu no Tsubasa ahead of season two’s debut.  It has remained unseen whether or not they will do the same with season 3.
