[wpsm_dropcap]M[/wpsm_dropcap]attel, the toy maker behind the iconic Barbie and Fisher-Price brands, are having internal-conversations of buying ourWorld from FlowPlay. This news comes to ourGemCodes after talks with Margo Georgiadis who is the new CEO of Mattel since January 2017.
On June 29th, 2017, Donny had the pleasure of having a brief conversation with Margo regarding the future plans of Barbie. This came shortly-after Barbie announced the unveiling of their most diverse Barbie line including seven body types, 28 hairstyles, and 11 skin tones.

Margo Georgiadis was appointed CEO for her “fresh perspective on enterprise alignment” and “the potential for a dramatic modernization of the Mattel operating model.” Barbie has been struggling and a major reason could be the lack of embracing new technologies or games. Now Margo is talking about Mattel’s interest in the virtual world game: ourWorld.
“ourWorld aligns with the vision of Mattel by offering what-is, essentially, virtual world Barbie” said Margo Georgiadis.
In recent years, development on ourWorld has slowed. The developers have refocused their efforts on vegasWorld — a virtual world casino — and now Barbie believes they can reinvigorate new life into ourWorld while offering new products to existing Barbie fans. OGC asked Mattel if they’ve reached out to FlowPlay discussing a possible purchase. Margo said nothing has been discussed yet.
